I am honoured to have met so many Carers in my day-to-day interactions. I hope I don’t come across as condescending as I am speaking from the heart. But Carers are just amazing people.

Let me explain why (in case you didn’t know)

So you probably had a somewhat normal life, hobbies, social life, fun (now that’s a word!!) Maybe a course here and there, a diploma, a degree, full-time work and was accomplished in what you did. Hopefully appreciated and respected at work too, and then your life changes.

You weren’t given an interview to be a Carer. It may have been something you never thought or wanted to do, and here you are. You changed course, you adapted, and are still trying to get inspiration to help those you care for.

Am I surprised by this?

No, because I have met amazing Carers who have turned their life around. Look how much more you do day after day and all you have accomplished as a Carer so far, all the time, physical and mental work you have given your life’s energy to.

I feel as Carers; we should be walking a little straighter with our heads held higher.

It is not that we think we are better than anyone else, but we have definitely been challenged and maybe doing work we never thought we could, sometimes 24 hours a day. What other profession does that?? Why do we do it? Is it for the money!! (no money could pay us) it is because we Love, and we have what it takes.

I can only speak from the knowledge of my own life and the Carers I have met throughout my work. I hope you are as proud of yourself as I am. Please look after yourself, and appreciate yourself because hopefully, your work has no end.
