Hi everyone and welcome back to our 2016 articles. We hope you had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying 2016 despite the weather.
I presume many of you have made new year resolutions by now and maybe some of you have them broken already (remember it’s never a sin to fall, it’s a sin not to get back up!) so with that in mind I feel we should do this together .
Write what you would like to achieve this year for your child? (Make it realistic) suggestions may be, achieve something in school, try and change a behaviour, apply for a medical card! etc.
How do you go about it? What is the easiest and happiest way for you, your family and most importantly for your child?
Who can help you on your journey? It’s always better to have support, family members, professionals and friends involved.
Before setting your new goal, make a note of each aspect you have achieved to date. Then add the steps needed to achieve your new goal for your child.
Make this your project and don’t give up, it’s for your child at the end of the day.
With regard behaviour: (this worked for me)
- What triggered the behaviour?
- What happened beforehand?
- What did you do?
- What will you do different the next time?
Remember if you do the same thing, you are going to get the same results. It’s time to make a difference.
Thanks for reading,
Dolores.
