Your start point in receiving your full range of special needs entitlements, benefits, grants and tax credits is being granted Domiciliary Care Allowance.
If you don’t have Domiciliary Allowance for your child then you will find it impossible to get any other entitlements or benefits. This is your first step and it is important that when you apply you give the Department of Social Protection the information they need to assess your case properly.
DO NOT JUST FILL IN THE DOMICILIARY CARE ALLOWANCE FORM & SEND IT OFF
I would strongly recommend that you show substantial evidence that you provide additional care and attention to your special needs child. If you have already been refused Domiciliary Care Allowance then click here
Don’t count on the Department assessing your case to truly understand the care you have to provide for your child with special needs. You have to put it down on paper and make it impossible for them to turn you down.
When you are in receipt of Domiciliary Care Allowance you will receive;
-
A monthly payment of €309.50 until your son or daughter turns 16-year of age
-
Automatically qualify for Respite Care Grant
-
This allowance is not means tested & you will not be required to produce a financial statement
-
Domiciliary Care Allowance is not a taxable source of income (unlike Carers Benefit or Carers Allowance )
