What is Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance?
This Allowance is a means-tested once-off payment aimed at helping families meet the rising costs of uniforms and footwear for children attending school.
The scheme is open to all families and not just parents with children with additional needs. It opens in June, and the closing date for applications is 30 September 2023.
Most families don’t need to take any action as their allowance is paid automatically. The Department will let you know if you are paid automatically using your MyWelfare account or by post before the end of June 2023.
